Lindsey's Prayer Vigil Scriptures and Prayer Suggestions
Thank you so much for your support to pray for Lindsey this coming Saturday. Many of you have signed up for an hour to cover her in prayer and we have put together some things to help you. Anyone can use these prayers throughout the day also.
Lindsey's requests
1. my family - being away from them is hard and I know them being away from me is also hard. I have 3 living grandparents, two younger brothers, two sisters-in-law, and my parents.
2. my roommate, Rebecca- she has volunteered to live with me while going through treatments which is a huge blessing and she was willing to make personal sacrifices to ensure I could live in a comfortable environment.
3. my doctors, nurses, techs, etc. at Geisinger. Dr. Bowen, Dr. Pheasant, Nurse Kara, Dr. Shulds, Dr. Ali and all their staffs. also including Dr. Shafik my PCP at Muncy and the nurses and lab techs at Muncy
4. that I can be a light in a dark place for anyone that I encounter, especially when I go for my immunotherapy appointments and encounter other cancer patients. And all of the people I encounter on a daily basis at Muncy can see my faith.
5. the guards that take me to my appointments. these guards usually rotate but I get to have good conversations with them.
6. that God would shield the the parts of my body that have not been effected, especially my brain and lungs. He has already answered this prayer and my scans are clear in those areas. We give Him praise and glory for this answered prayer.
7. that the medication will work and the cancer can be contained and managed. the doctors said my cancer is treatable not curable... that's okay I have someone who can cure it
8. in His time through His hand so that He can receive all the glory, He will heal me
9. Thank Him in advance for healing me. I am claiming the healing and already thanking him for it.
some scripture to include: Jeremiah 29:10-14 followed by Ezra 3:1-6 (building an altar before and worshipping before the miracle, this is also the beginning of the fulfillment of the Jeremiah passage) Psalm 27 (I'm trying to memorize this), psalm 46, Isaiah 40:28-31, Isaiah 43:1-4, 19-21, Psalm 118, Psalm 136, Psalm 139
Jeremiah 29: 10-14
10 “For thus says the Lord: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. 11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. 13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.
Ezra 3:1-6
New International Version
Rebuilding the Altar
3 When the seventh month came and the Israelites had settled in their towns, the people assembled together as one in Jerusalem. 2 Then Joshua son of Jozadak and his fellow priests and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and his associates began to build the altar of the God of Israel to sacrifice burnt offerings on it, in accordance with what is written in the Law of Moses the man of God. 3 Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the Lord, both the morning and evening sacrifices. 4 Then in accordance with what is written, they celebrated the Festival of Tabernacles with the required number of burnt offerings prescribed for each day. 5 After that, they presented the regular burnt offerings, the New Moon sacrifices and the sacrifices for all the appointed sacred festivals of the Lord, as well as those brought as freewill offerings to the Lord. 6 On the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to the Lord, though the foundation of the Lord’s temple had not yet been laid.
Psalm 27
New Living Translation
A psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—
so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
so why should I tremble?
2 When evil people come to devour me,
when my enemies and foes attack me,
they will stumble and fall.
3 Though a mighty army surrounds me,
my heart will not be afraid.
Even if I am attacked,
I will remain confident.
4 The one thing I ask of the Lord—
the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
delighting in the Lord’s perfections
and meditating in his Temple.
5 For he will conceal me there when troubles come;
he will hide me in his sanctuary.
He will place me out of reach on a high rock.
6 Then I will hold my head high
above my enemies who surround me.
At his sanctuary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy,
singing and praising the Lord with music.
7 Hear me as I pray, O Lord.
Be merciful and answer me!
8 My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.”
And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
9 Do not turn your back on me.
Do not reject your servant in anger.
You have always been my helper.
Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me,
O God of my salvation!
10 Even if my father and mother abandon me,
the Lord will hold me close.
11 Teach me how to live, O Lord.
Lead me along the right path,
for my enemies are waiting for me.
12 Do not let me fall into their hands.
For they accuse me of things I’ve never done;
with every breath they threaten me with violence.
13 Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness
while I am here in the land of the living.
14 Wait patiently for the Lord.
Be brave and courageous.
Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
Psalm 46
For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to alamoth.
A song.
1God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
4There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
6Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8Come and see what the Lord has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9He makes wars cease
to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields with fire.
10He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
11The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Isaiah 40:28-31
New King James Version
28 Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
31 But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 43
New King James Version
The Redeemer of Israel
43 But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
3 For I am the Lord your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I gave Egypt for your ransom,
Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
4 Since you were precious in My sight,
You have been honored,
And I have loved you;
Therefore I will give men for you,
And people for your life.
19 Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
20 The beast of the field will honor Me,
The jackals and the ostriches,
Because I give waters in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert,
To give drink to My people, My chosen.
21 This people I have formed for Myself;
They shall declare My praise.
Lindsey prayer vigil part 3
For those in early morning:
Father, sometimes it seems like time stands still. In the small hours of the night, it's as though times slows down, and we pass through the dark, unhampered by the ticking of the clock.. God, you are the beginning and the end. You are a creator so far beyond our understanding that we can not hope to learn all there is to know about you. An eternity would not be enough time. But for some reason you wait for us, LORD. You have so much patience. We get lost time and time again, yet over and over you lead us back home. LORD, in the quiet of this night, lead us back to the right path again. Hold our hands and walk with us until the sun comes up. Amen.
God, there is something about this time of night. There's a mystery to it we want to understand. Around us people sleep and dream. The darkness can make us feel like we're walking through someone else's dream. All those things that are present in the light are still here in the dark. But the darkness can be cold, LORD. Please wrap your arms around us. Hold us like a parent holds a child in the darkness of the night. Make us feel safe and warm. Carry us. Take our worries and fears away and hold us until morning comes. Amen
Morning prayers:
Creator God, we can't begin to imagine all that you are or all that you've done for us. Each new morning is a new chance to put behind us all that we were and look ahead to all that we can be. You have brought us through another night. The darkness falls from our eyes and the wonders of your world become visible. Let us see your creation with the eyes of child. God, let all things be new to us again. Let us stand up and greet this day. Let us welcome it. Keep us from hiding from the sun because we are tired and weary. Your son rose in the morning and gave us all a new chance at life. Help us to take that chance. Help us to embrace this day with energy and passion. Let this be the start, God. Amen
Psalm 41
A psalm of David.
1 Blessed are those who have regard for the weak;
the Lord delivers them in times of trouble.
2 The Lord protects and preserves them—
they are counted among the blessed in the land—
he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.
3 The Lord sustains them on their sickbed
and restores them from their bed of illness.
James 5:14-15: "Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven."
Jeremiah 17:14: "Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise."
Psalm 103:2-3: "Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases."
Psalm 121
A song of ascents.
1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
Lindsey prayer vigil part 4
"Father, help me to keep Lindsey's focus on You when the pain and hurt are overwhelming. Help her be faithful and see the good and blessings surrounding her. Please strengthen Lindsey's mind, heart, and body, and heal her today. May the Holy Spirit guide her in peace and comfort. Amen."
May those accompanying her to her treatments be kind to her. May they willingly assist her as her physical ailments (such as pain, weakness, tiredness, nausea) may require. Father God, we give thanks for her doctors and other caretakers, please guard their hearts and minds especially as they are making recommendations for treatment. May those who have power over Lindsey be compassionate and posses critical thinking skills.
Matthew 7:7-11
New Living Translation
Effective Prayer
7 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? 10 Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! 11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.
Verses to be read during your hour that show Jesus' healing
Matthew 8:1-3, Matthew 8:5-13 are two examples I'd like you to focus on but Matthew 8 and 9 are filled with Jesus' healings
Matthew 8:1-3
New Living Translation
Jesus Heals a Man with Leprosy
8 Large crowds followed Jesus as he came down the mountainside. 2 Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. “Lord,” the man said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.”
3 Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared.
Matthew 8:5-13
New Living Translation
The Faith of a Roman Officer
5 When Jesus returned to Capernaum, a Roman officer came and pleaded with him, 6 “Lord, my young servant lies in bed, paralyzed and in terrible pain.”
7 Jesus said, “I will come and heal him.”
8 But the officer said, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed. 9 I know this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this,’ they do it.”
10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to those who were following him, he said, “I tell you the truth, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel! 11 And I tell you this, that many Gentiles will come from all over the world—from east and west—and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the feast in the Kingdom of Heaven. 12 But many Israelites—those for whom the Kingdom was prepared—will be thrown into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13 Then Jesus said to the Roman officer, “Go back home. Because you believed, it has happened.” And the young servant was healed that same hour.

New Living Translation
Greetings from Paul
1 This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus.
I am writing to God’s holy people in Ephesus, who are faithful followers of Christ Jesus.
2 May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.
Spiritual Blessings
3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. 4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. 6 So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.[b] 7 He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. 8 He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.
Ephesians 3:20
New Living Translation
20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
LORD we are rebuking any doubt that ANYONE has about Lindsey's full restoration to health and we speak LIFE over her. Sometimes we lack the words to let you know our desires, please search our hearts instead.
Help us LORD to not lean on our own understanding and help us not get ahead of You. Please help us to believe that what we ask for we shall receive. (Or please help us to expect what we pray for.) This is a promise made by you and we claim Lindsey to be fully healed here on earth by your hand. AMEN.
